Leaving and Arriving

We left Bellingham at 7pm at night on a Sunday to drive to the Vancouver airport. There were no lines and we got to check in right away and then the wait for our plane began. Our flight left at 11:45pm. The flight was 15 hours long!!! We got to Sydney, Australia at 10:30am two days later because of the time and date changes. It is on the other side of the world! Then we got our passports stamped by customs and got on another flight to Cairns, Australia. Cairns is in the far north part of the continent in the state of Queensland. It is very hot and tropical here. It is 18 hours ahead of Bellingham so we are usually on the next day before everyone back home!

Good thing we packed Landie! She fits in our carry on baggage.

We stayed in Palm Cove, just north of Cairns for one week. It seemed really long. This is the beach by our condo in Palm Cove. The white lines in the water that you see are nets to keep out the box jelly fish, because if you get stung you have to go to the hospital and you could die!

We only saw two people swimming outside the nets in the entire week!

Best day ever! Me, Everly, Dad, Mom and Ireland all played at the beach and we had so much fun. We all loved it. That night we walked on the beach to dinner and we had smoothies. ~Parker

This is our pool at Palm Cove. It is huge! I made friends named Claire and Joshie. Parker also made some friends. His friend's name is Patrick, Claire's brother. The pool is made of salt water. I brought my snorkel gear and I wore my fins and my mask and my snorkel. We played in this pool for a very long time every day. We even got to go night swimming a couple times. ~Everly

This is the front of our hotel. There are no walls! It was over 90 degrees every day!

Another pool at the condo. There was also a third pool that looked like a beach.

  1. It looks magical. I think my favorite picture is the one of you sitting at the table and Lindsey smiling at Parker and Everly. That makes me happy to see this small moment. I'm so excited for you all to experience this together.
