Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to us! Christmas was quite simple around here, in keeping with Australian tradition and due to the fact that it was just the 5 of us and it fell on a 100 degree day! On our way home from the beach on Christmas Eve Eve we pulled over and snagged a tree off a red dirt road on the good advice of our next door neighbors. We wanted a tiny tree and we found quite a pathetic tiny little Australian long pine tree. Evie and I made paper chains in the weeks before and I picked up a little string of lights at the store. We added the handful of ornaments grandma sent and then the kids made a star out of tinfoil. It was quite perfect.

Merry Christmas morning to us! Our kids love to drag Christmas Day out for the whole day so they slept in and then we opened their stockings first, slowly savoring the little goodies.

It was already 90 degrees by 10 am!

Ireland loved her stocking and all her little gifts! She laughed and delighted and carried around every little thing - whether it was something for her siblings or the wrapping paper :)
We all loved our baby's "first" Christmas! Last year Ireland napped through most of the day and was so tiny. This year I think we all spent half the day savoring the wonder of a one year old on this magical day!

We surprised Parker with a little handmade airplane he had been admiring at the Salamanca Market in Tasmania! He had no idea we sneaked it home and he was so excited.
Ireland got a Koala backpack the kids picked out and as soon as we showed her how to wear it she thought she was big stuff and spent the next hour strutting around while wearing it and making sure we all took notice!

Pool break! After the stockings and breakfast we went for a swim for a few hours before going back to open a few more gifts. The kids are seriously experts at dragging this day out and savoring every moment no matter where we are.
Back inside to open their gifts!

Parker got a classic Simon game and the lights and beeping were the most HILARIOUS THING EVER to Ireland!
Oh, sweet angels. Ireland got a teddy bear to her absolute delight.

And my sweets lover got a popsicle floatie and all her dreams came true. :)
